Baldi's Basics - Field Trip demo: Camping was created to showcase the new feature that would eventually be added to Baldi's Basics Plus: field trips. From V0.3 of Baldi's Basics Plus onwards, the game was removed from itch.io since the field trips themselves have undergone a complete overhaul and no longer look similar to this game.
The player is going on a camping trip with Baldi, and their role is to keep the fire burning for 3 minutes. The player can either throw small amounts of firewood into the fire or play it big and toss in all the firewood they have found. Extra fuel contributes better towards the final score, and the higher the score, the better the reward.
The game begins with the player standing inside the Super Schoolhouse, except that the hallways are blocked with the text “The demo ends here.” One of the hallways lets the player pass through the blockage, showing even more texts: "...No, seriously, that's it." "STOP! There's nothing else!" "You'll regret this..." Once the player reaches the end of the hallway, Principal of the Thing will be waiting for them and say, "No breaking the fourth wall in the halls!" However, he won't do anything to the player since this is more like a fun secret for them to discover.
Returning to the starting point, the player can pass through the yellow swinging doors and meet up with Baldi in his camping outfit, and Joe's bus can be seen behind him—the bus has been vandalized with the text “Baldi's Bus.” Trying to touch the bus will result in the player being transported into a dark forest with a campfire at the center. Joining It's a Bully and Arts and Crafters at the campsite.
Afterwards, the player will be told by Baldi to collect sticks, which can be found scattered around the dark forest, in order to keep the fire burning. They can take as many sticks as they want, but the more sticks there are, the slower their movement is, making it difficult to reach the fireplace in time. Since the sticks don't respawn, the player will need to venture deeper into the forest to collect them, making it hard to see the fire. There are many factors indicating that the fire is about to go out:
In addition, other characters will also obstruct the player's stick-gathering quest:
If the fire blows out, Baldi will chase after the player aggressively. On the other hand, if the player manages to keep the fire roaring until the timer ends, they win the game.
Based on the score of the player, they will receive different items. Despite that, they can't use them since the game will switch to the Kickstarter promotion screen as soon as it is completed. Below are the possible rewards:
