Baldi's Basics - Field Trip demo: Camping was created to showcase the new feature that would eventually be added to Baldi's Basics Plus: field trips. From V0.3 of Baldi's Basics Plus onwards, the game was removed from since the field trips themselves have undergone a complete overhaul and no longer look similar to this game.

The player is going on a camping trip with Baldi, and their role is to keep the fire burning for 3 minutes. The player can either throw small amounts of firewood into the fire or play it big and toss in all the firewood they have found. Extra fuel contributes better towards the final score, and the higher the score, the better the reward.

The game begins with the player standing inside the Super Schoolhouse, except that the hallways are blocked with the text “The demo ends here.” One of the hallways lets the player pass through the blockage, showing even more texts: "...No, seriously, that's it." "STOP! There's nothing else!" "You'll regret this..." Once the player reaches the end of the hallway, Principal of the Thing will be waiting for them and say, "No breaking the fourth wall in the halls!" However, he won't do anything to the player since this is more like a fun secret for them to discover.

Returning to the starting point, the player can pass through the yellow swinging doors and meet up with Baldi in his camping outfit, and Joe's bus can be seen behind him—the bus has been vandalized with the text “Baldi's Bus.” Trying to touch the bus will result in the player being transported into a dark forest with a campfire at the center. Joining It's a Bully and Arts and Crafters at the campsite.

Afterwards, the player will be told by Baldi to collect sticks, which can be found scattered around the dark forest, in order to keep the fire burning. They can take as many sticks as they want, but the more sticks there are, the slower their movement is, making it difficult to reach the fireplace in time. Since the sticks don't respawn, the player will need to venture deeper into the forest to collect them, making it hard to see the fire. There are many factors indicating that the fire is about to go out:

  • The ambient sound of crickets chirping is more noticeable.
  • The points gained per second are below 30.

In addition, other characters will also obstruct the player's stick-gathering quest:

  • If the fire is bright enough, Cloudy Copter will try to blow it out. When this happens, the fire will burn twice as fast. To scare him away, simply walk up to him.
  • It's a Bully will follow the player while they are unaware and then try to take their sticks. This only happens once in a run.
  • Arts and Crafters will appear if the player goes past the “NO” signs long enough. Then, he will teleport them back to the campfire and take all their sticks. If the player is being chased by Baldi, he will teleport both of them to the campfire.

If the fire blows out, Baldi will chase after the player aggressively. On the other hand, if the player manages to keep the fire roaring until the timer ends, they win the game.

Possible Rewards

Based on the score of the player, they will receive different items. Despite that, they can't use them since the game will switch to the Kickstarter promotion screen as soon as it is completed. Below are the possible rewards:

  • Version 1.0: There were only three characters in the game: the player, Baldi, and Principal of the Thing. There were neither forest textures on the map nor “NO” signs.
  • Version 1.1: Other characters joined the game, including Cloudy Copter and It's a Bully. The player was able to venture past the boundaries of the map through Baldi's Bus and find a secret, which was the PlaceFace standing behind the yellow swinging door.

  • Before the official release of Baldi's Basics - Field Trip demo: Camping, the game has been revealed with two preview images from the creator.
  • This is the first game of the Baldi's Basics series in which Baldi's hostility depends on the player's action. Regardless, chasing after the player with murderous intent due to them not being able to keep the light source is still disproportional retribution—similar to failing a math problem.
  • While the game gives different bonuses depending on the player's performance, it is impossible to receive them since the game automatically switches to the Kickstarter promotion screen.
